  • Humberside Schools’ Cross Country

    7th February 2018 - The Vale Academy


    Eight students from The Vale Academy were selected to represent North Lincolnshire against Hull, East Riding and North East Lincolnshire in the Humberside Schools’ Secondary Cross Country Championships.

    The girls all did well but the boys stole the show in the event at Hull University Playing Fields, Inglemire Lane in Hull.

    Joe Hare finished second and Reece Wray (Year 10) 11th. Reece received a selection letter for the English schools’ National Cross Country Competition.

  • We raised £287 for World Cancer Day

    6th February 2018 - De Lacy Academy

    What a great day we had on Friday raising money for World Cancer Day.

    Students wore pink socks, cheered on staff who volunteered to have their legs waxed and bought lots of cakes, cookies and cupcakes from the bake sale.

    Thank you to all staff who got involved in the day, to parents and staff who baked some lovely cookies, buns and cakes for everyone to buy and to Miss McIlroy and her band of students who organised the day.

  • Post 16 Cyber Crime Presentation

    6th February 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

    On Monday 5th February 2018 we met Eamonn Larkin, Crime Reduction Officer from South Yorkshire Police, who gave a very informative presentation to our Post 16 students. Eamonn is an expert in Cyber Crime Awareness. Our students learned about hacking and Cyber Crime. We discussed topics including;

    • Choosing a safe password,
    • Common issues (Viruses, Spyware, Botnet, Ratting and Phishing)
    • Current user issues (Blackmail, Revenge, Social Media and Dating sites)

    We discussed ways to protect ourselves from Cyber Crime.


  • Reading Challenge Gold Award

  • Year 10 Rugby Union Cup Semi Final

    6th February 2018 - Garforth Academy

    The Year 10 Rugby team lost this afternoon 14:7  to last years finalists, Rodillian Academy. The lads were outstanding and didn't deserve to lose the game, dominating for large parts, coming close to scoring more tries on several occasions.
    The opposision coaches were very complimentary and we all agreed that  the game would have been a worthy final, between two very good teams.

    6th February 2018 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    Year 1 and 2 have been designing posters and having discussions about how to keep safe on the internet for Safer Internet Day 2018.


    We talked about what information you shouldn't share online and what to do if you feel worried about anything on the computer or tablet. We also discussed how much time is appropriate to spend on our devices.

  • Non Uniform Day

    The academy will be hosting a non uniform day on Friday, 9th February in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

    The charge for students not wearing uniform will be £1 and students are encouraged to wear red to show their support for this charity.

  • Post 16 Army Careers Presentation

    5th February 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

    Andrew Turner of the Doncaster Army Careers Office delivered a presentation to our Post 16 students to inspire today’s young people to consider the Army as a career.

    The presentation covered the role of the army in today’s world and the many types of careers available in the armed forces, including roles such as chefs, aircraft technicians, administration, medical, computers and logistics. It also looked at the army’s role in

  • U12 West Yorkshire County Football Champions

    5th February 2018 - Garforth Academy

    An excellent team performance this afternoon has resulted in Garforth Academy Under 12's being crowned West Yorkshire Football County Champions.

    The boys got off to a flying start against Rastrick going 1:0 up after 20 seconds! The final score was  4:1 - a fantastic result on a cold snowy afternoon in Woodlesford.

  • Wild Science Visit

    4th February 2018 - Whetley Academy

    Last week the children at Whetley were visited by some very special animals. Tarantulas and snakes were just some of the creatures we learnt about, and stroked. The children were incredibly brave and totally fascinated with these strange creatures as our expert explained how to feed and care for them.
