  • Pete Johnson - Latest Book Launch at Serlby

    We would like to say a huge thank you to Pete Johnson, the award winning author of over 50 books for children, who paid a visit to Serlby Park Academy on the 27th September to launch his brand new book 'How to Fool Your Parents'.
     
    This was a very prestigious event for Serlby Park Academy, as we were chosen as the venue for a new book launch by this well known, international author and we look forward to working with Pete and his publishers again.

  • Next week is colours week!

    3rd October 2017 - De Lacy Academy

     Colours week begins on Monday 16th October.

    Students will receive their colour pin badges for contributing to wider Academic life in assemblies all next week, look out for them on your child's blazer lapel.

  • Year 7 Parents' Evening - 17th October 2017

    3rd October 2017 - De Lacy Academy

    Year 7 parents' evening will take place on Tuesday 17th October from 3pm - 6pm in the main hall.

    Students will make appointments with staff in their planners.

  • Year 5 visit to St John's Church

    3rd October 2017 - Kingston Park Academy

    On Thursday 12th October 2017 Year 5 will be walking to St Johns Church in Carlton to take part in the launch of the Arts Society Children’s Trail. They will have the opportunity to find out facts about the church, including the Becket Altar.       

    Parental support is always welcome, so if you wish to walk with us to the church, please speak to the class teacher.

     

     

  • France and Belgium Trip 2017

    2nd October 2017 - John Whitgift Academy

    Mr Bee (Head of Humanities), Mr Tuffnell (Learning & Consequences manager), Ms Hurst (LSA) & Mrs Heron (Custodian) all travelled with 47 students to the Somme Battlefields in France/Belgium. In 2016 Mr Tuffnell had visited as part of the 100 year centenary with two representatives of the academy and on return a further trip was organised with a larger group. The group of students consisted of a mixed range of year 7 – 11 students and excitement had been ongoing for several months prior to leaving.

  • Annual Flu Vaccination

    2nd October 2017 - Kingston Park Academy

    We have sent letters this week to pupils in Reception, Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 regarding the flu vaccination which is taking place in school on Monday 30th October 2017. A new scheme has been introduced this and all schools will be awarded either a Bronze, Silver or Gold certificate based on the number of returned consent forms to school. Please try and return your child’s consent form to school as soon as possible and lets see if we can get the Gold Award.

  • Macmillan Coffee Morning

    2nd October 2017 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    Thank you to all the children and parents that supported the coffee morning on Thursday 28th September we raised over £219. A big thank you to the school council and FOGL who ran the event.

  • Harvest Festival

    2nd October 2017 - Kingston Park Academy

    This year we will be attending the Harvest Festival at St Johns Church in Carlton on Wednesday 18th October.

    FS1 to Year 3 will be leaving school at 9.00am for the service at 9.45am. Years 4 to 6 will be leaving school at 10.00am for a service at 10.30am.

    The children have been asked to bring a donation of dried/tinned food or toiletries which will all be donated to a local charity.

  • Parents Consultation

    2nd October 2017 - Kingston Park Academy

    Letters have been sent out for parents consultations that are taking place on Wednesday 18th October 3:00pm to 6:00pm and Thursday 19th October 3:00pm to 5:00pm for FS2 — Year 6.

    FS1 consultations will be taking place throughout the week from 16th to 19th October between 12pm and 12:30pm.

    Please return the consent form to the class teacher as soon as possible.

     

  • EYFS Stay and Play

    1st October 2017 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    35 parents attended the EYFS stay and play in September. Thank you for all those that supported this event, it was very well received and we will be running many more over the academic year.

  • Extreme Reading Competition

    1st October 2017 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    WOW our Extreme reading competition was very popular and saw many children taking part. A huge thank you to all the children and parents that got involved, it was a great success. Welldone to the winner Archie Richardson from The Penguins class. He was photographed reading Tiddler - the storytelling fish with his sister Grace at the top of Hallin Fell in the Lake District.

    Each week we have two very special assemblies where we congratulate our stars of the week. We split our assemblies two ways; FSU and KS1, and KS2.

    This week was extra special because it included some pupils who had achieved some very special awards. These couldn't make it to our termly Leading Learners assembly.

    We had some VIP certificates. These are awarded to pupils who achieved 100% for the whole of last year. They will have a VIP week before half term! Special treatment! This will include no queueing for

  • Big Coffee Morning

    Friday 29th September 2017

    The Elland Academy took part in the Big Coffee Morning in support of Macmillan cancer support. Staff and students enjoyed spending time together whilst raising money for the work of this charity. It also gave our students an opportunity to share stories of loved ones who had battled cancer, it gave them a chance to reflect on what a charity does.   • Attendance October Challenge

    29th September 2017 - Manor Croft Academy

    As part of our ongoing attendance initiatives, Monday will see us roll out our October Challenge to all forms.  Every form who has 97% or above attendance throughout the month of October will be able to have a non-uniform day in November!  This means that each form needs to work together to ensure that their form attendance is above 97% FOR THE WHOLE OF OCTOBER - Monday 2nd October right up until Friday 20th October.  Only those forms who have 97% during this period will be eligable to participate in the no

    On Friday 29 September, in the afternoon, we invited parents and carers to come into school for the MacMillan Coffee Morning.  Many parents had donated lots of cakes and buns.  We raised £155.39 for MacMillan nurses.
