    The Grove Academy had a poppy planted amongst hundreds and hundreds of thousands of others at Ypres Memorial on 11.11.17.

    Pupils were moved and respectful while examining war medals from WW2.

  • MATHS INTERVENTION SUCCESS

    10th November 2017 - Ash Hill Academy
    "Boom,I couldn't do this before tonight and now I'm getting every one correct" - Y11 student.
     
    An excellent turnout last night for the Maths Intervention. 68 students stayed behind for a bespoke Maths session based on students QLA. All selected students failed to score in the recent mock exam on this topic, yet after an hour of intensive tuition, the vast majority were succeeding when answering GCSE past paper questions on the topic. Another great session with fantastic outcomes. Well done Year 11.

  • Children in Need Friday 17th November

    10th November 2017 - Don Valley Academy

    Students are invited to wear 'crazy ties or silly socks' as part of Children in Need this year, if they choose to do so there will be a £1 donation made to the charity. If not they need to comply with usual uniform expectations. There will be lots of exciting activities taking place throughout the day to help support Chidlren in Need.

  • Mega Travel Cards and Multi Ride Tickets

    10th November 2017 - Don Valley Academy

    On 11th November First Bus will be upgrading the drivers ticket machines.

    This will mean that some tickets will be sold in smart form only.

    This includes the £6 FirstWeek, the £2 FirstDay and the £7.50 GetAbout.

    A Mega Travel or 16-18 travel pass will be required, as now, in order to buy the product. The difference will be that the product will be electronically written to the card. Therefore, if there is no card we will be physically unable to issue the product.

    Kingston Park Academy as part of the Delta Academies Trust, is where children make rapid progress. We understand how making a decision about where your child will attend school is not an easy task. A lot has to go into making that decision. Visit our lovely school and decide for yourself.     We are looking for any parents/carers who would be interested in being involved with this year’s Enterprise Event on Tuesday 12th December.   • Odd Sock Day

    10th November 2017 - Kingston Park Academy

    As part of Anti-bullying week on Wednesday 15th November we are  inviting children to come to school in odd socks. Parents and carers are invited in to school to work with their children on Wednesday morning. We will be filling in a jigsaw piece about our families then joining them all together to show that we are “all different, all equal” which is the key message for Anti-bullying week.   • Children In Need

    10th November 2017 - Kingston Park Academy

    Next week we will be helping to raise money for Children in Need. On Friday 17th November we are asking for children to bring in cakes with a spotty theme which will be sold to the pupils at breaktime.  We will also be holding a raffle to win a homemade Pudsey cake which will be £1.00 for a strip of tickets.

     

     

  • Harvest Festival Food Bank Donation

    Thank you very much for donating your Harvest Festival Collection to Hull Foodbank. We appreciate each and every item to help people in need in our communities. We collected 98kgs which is the equivalent of 194 meals.

     

  • Reading Challenge - Silver Award

    Congratulations to Oliver in Year 7 who has just become the first student this term to achieve the Silver Award in the Serlby Park Reading Challenge by reading a variety of books from Serlby Park Library.

  • CERTIFICATE EVENING

    8th November 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    We will be holding our annual Certificate Evening on Tuesday 21st November 2017 starting at 6.30pm,  for students from last year's Years 11, 12 and 13. Students and their families are invited to come and celebrate the successful results achieved this summer, featuring guest speaker Mr Jon Whiteley of the Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust, a former student himself. Refreshments will also be available from 6pm.

  • ASPIRATIONS EVENING

    7th November 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    We will be holding an Aspirations Evening between 5.30 and 7.30pm on Tuesday 14th November 2017,  for students in Years 8, 9, 10 and 11. Students and their families are invited to come and talk to providers of higher education, training and careers, from various sectors of industry and universities. The event will allow students and their families an opportunity to discuss career paths, necessary qualifications, and potential next steps with providers both locally and nationally.

  • Diwali Day

    7th November 2017 - Macaulay Primary Academy

    The children from key stage one spend a day learning all about the Hindu festival of Diwali, They learned about the story of Rama and Sita and how Hindu families celebrate the festival. They learned through a mixture of art, craft, storytelling, drama and discussion. They especially enjoyed sampling the food! 

  • BUS PASSES - URGENT

    7th November 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    The academy has been informed that as of Monday 13th November 2017,  students who catch a First bus must show their Mega Travel pass to receive the 80p fare, as the new ticket machines on the buses will now read the Mega Travel pass to allocate a ticket. If students don’t show the Mega Travel pass, they will be charged the full rate.

     

  • Cake Sales for Children in Need

    To support Children in Need, the Year 9 GCSE 'Foodies' will be crafting loads of yummy cup cakes for a fund raising bun sale Wednesday 15th November, first and second break at the spiral staircase.

    Year 11 will be hosting The Great Garforth Bake Off in the Main Hall, so students are invited to pop along and watch as our very own Prue, Sandi, Noel and Paul decide on who will be the champion!

    Slices of all baked goods will then be available to buy at second break.

    Thank you everyone for coming in non-uniform and donating towards Pastor Simpson's Operation Christmas child.

    Ghostly goings-on spooked visitors to The Vale’s new building in a student-inspired Halloween special.

    Storytellers, played by sixth form drama students each with a ghostly link to the academy, led the audience around the school.There was a 19th century asylum in the drama studio, a whodunit murder mystery in the gym, a Victorian school and a gory, blood spilling, accident-prone scene.Spooky Tales was a promenade performance set across nine settings, with the audience moving from one to another.

  • KS2 RAF Coningsby Trip

    6th November 2017 - Willows Academy

    All of KS2 went on a fascinating visit to Coningsby RAF Base to learn all about the variety of aircraft used in World War 2 and compare it to modern day aircraft. In the hanger, we were amazed at all of the planes including: Spitfire, Lancaster Bomber, Hurricane and Dakota. We learnt so many interesting facts and stories about real life experiences in WW2.
